About Carol Hello there...Let me introduce myself. I came from South Africa in 2006 with a background in teaching, having spent 16 years teaching pre-school, the last five of which were in Montessori education. While teaching in recent years, I was finding it increasingly frustrating to see growing numbers of children with learning difficulties, and feeling powerless to help them overcome their barriers. Luckily, I stumbled upon the HANDLE® training, which was being offered in South Africa by Shirley Kokot, under the ILT banner. I did my introductory and intermediate training with her, and started treating some of the children from my class with the therapy. I was blown away by the results! Here at last was a tool, that not only helps identify the issues, but also to remedy the cause of the problem! On immigrating to New Zealand I then went on to train with the Listening Program in 2007, Rhythmic Movements in 2008, Child Centered Play Therapy in 2010/11 and Sandtray therapy in 2011. I am also currently studying for my degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology. My knowledge and experience continues to grow as I learn through the children I treat. It is an emerging and tremendously rewarding field, and although I miss teaching I have never regretted making the move into doing ILT full time. I look forward to meeting you.
